Robredo thanks Swedish envoy for supporting social welfare projects

Outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo has expressed gratitude to Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines Annika Thunborg for helping the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in its programs under her term.

Robredo received the ambassador of Sweden at the Quezon City Reception House, where she holds office, on Monday, June 13.

Her office posted on Facebook photos of their meeting at the QCRH, where they discussed Sweden's support to various OVP projects for the benefit of Filipino communities in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Ngayong panahon ng pandemya, katuwang natin ang Swedish Embassy sa pagbukas ng mga (In this time of pandemic, the Swedish Embassy is our partner for the opening of the) temporary shelters para sa mga frontliners at mga ospital, pati na rin mga bakuna para sa mga komunidad (for frontliners and hospitals, including the vaccines for communities),” Robredo said in a post.

“Nakiisa rin ang embahada sa pagbabahagi ng mga (The embassy also took part in the distribution of) household items at (and) equipment sa mga residente noong itinayo natin ang (for residents when we built the) Angat Buhay Village sa (in) Marawi City.”

Robredo also cited the partnership of the Embassy of Sweden in Manila with the OVP and Spark Philippines for the “Respeto Naman” campaign against gender-based violence.

During their meeting, the outgoing Vice President recognized the peace-building and women empowerment efforts of Sweden in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Robredo’s office said she also thanked Sweden for the “employment opportunities“ and the “good treatment” its companies have provided for Filipino workers.
