The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Cebu Chapter, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection and Local Government Unit, immediately dispatched its two ambulance units that treated three patients with minor injuries in a fire at a residential area in Sitio Tuburan, Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City on Saturday, June 11.

The PRC Welfare Desks and First Aid Stations maintained their posts in case of medical emergencies and other services.
The PRC also served hot meals to over 500 individuals through its food truck at Punta Princesa Elementary School.
“Ang Red Cross ay laging handa sa ganitong insidente. Agad tayong umaksyon upang magbigay ng tulong sa ating mga kababayang naapektuhan ng sunog. Hindi natin sila iiwan hanggang maibigay natin ang kanilang pangangailangan at matiyak natin ang kanilang kaligtasan (Red Cross is always prepared in situations like this. We immediately responsed to give help to our countrymen who were affected by the fire. We will not leave by their side until we make sure to provide their needs and assure their safety),” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Senator Richard Gordon in a statement released Monday, June 13.
The fire reached its fourth alarm at 6:53 p.m and affected 143 houses, 187 families, and 771 individuals. The blaze was declared under control at 9:29 p.m.
Affected residents sought shelter in the designated evacuation centers. (Luisa Cabato)
