Omega Esports’ title-retention bid in MSC 2022 faced a rocky start as it settled for a 1-1 draw against Thai team IDNS Esports at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre on Sunday, June 12.

The defending champion couldn’t keep its blazing start in Game 1 as it failed to close out the series in the second game which allowed the Thais to force the draw and put the playoff hopes of the Filipinos hanging in the balance.
Omega now enters a must-win situation against Indonesian powerhouse RRQ Hoshi if it wishes to finish within the top 2 of Group C and avoid further complications to its playoff bid.
The MPL PH Season 9 runner-up went off to a scintillating start, taking down IDNS 17-1 in the series opener behind the Christian “Raizen” Sumagui and Duane “Kelra” Pillas who had an immaculate 5-0-6 and 6-0-4 lines on the Fanny and Karrie picks respectively.
The two however were completely shut down by the Thais in the second game with Loysss also displaying his mastery on the Fanny with a 5-0-8 line. The Filipinos actually had the chance to take the victory in Game 2 but a huge clash for the second Luminous Lord spelled doom for Omega as Sunxaompak on the Dyrroth scored a Maniac to wipe the Filipinos out and take the 20-19 equalizer.
Omega completes its group stage assignment with the titanic clash against RRQ later in the day at 6 p.m.
