Over P600,000 worth of illegal drugs seized in Caloocan, Malabon ops
Four men yielded over P600,000 worth of alleged shabu and marijuana in two separate police operations in the cities of Caloocan and Malabon on Friday, June 10.
Police Brig. Gen. Ulysses Cruz, Northern Police District (NPD) chief, identified the first suspect as Chester Fortades, 30, of Baesa, Caloocan City.
According to the police report, the suspect who was riding a motorcycle was halted by operatives of Caloocan City Police Station manning a check point on North Diversion Road in Barangay 151 at around 12:35 a.m. on Friday for not wearing a helmet.
Fortades tried to escape but was immediately cornered by the cops.
Upon checking his motorcycle, authorities found and confiscated two kilograms of alleged marijuana worth P240,000.
Also seized from the suspect were a blue paper bag, a shirt, and his black Yamaha Mio Sporty motorcycle.
Meanwhile, three suspects yielded over P400,000 worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation conducted by Malabon City Police Station personnel on Reyes Street in Barangay Santulan, Malabon on the same day.
Police said that the suspects, Dennis Palaganas, 34; Jerald Geronimo, 33; and Cesar Jumawan, 34; all residents of Barangay Santulan, were arrested at around 11:50 p.m.
Seized from the suspects were 13 transparent sachets that contain 60 grams of alleged shabu worth P408,000, a dark blue pouch, and the buy-bust money.
The total amount of illegal drugs confiscated from the suspcets is P648,000.
All the suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Fortades will also be charge for violation of RA 10054 for not wearing protective motorcycle helmet while driving and Article 151 (disobedience to a person in authority) of the Revised Penal Code, police said.
