The Las Piñas city government will conduct a synchronized clean-up drive on June 24 to prevent the spread of dengue disease in the city.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said a meeting was held on Thursday, June 9, which was participated in by barangay captains and their representatives, together with members of the Sanitation Office and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in preparation for the synchronized clean-up drive all over the city.
Doctors from the City Health Office (CHO) led by Dr. Juliana Gonzalez explained to the participants the importance of practicing the 4S -- Search and destroy, Seek early consultation, Self protection measure, and Say No to indiscriminate fogging -- to prevent the spread of dengue.
Aguilar urged the doctors to explain to residents what dengue is, how a person could acquire the disease, and how to prevent the its spread. Dr. Norberto Tiu, Las Piñas dengue coordinator, led in explaining all these to city residents.
The mayor also asked barangay chairmen to encourage residents in their respective areas of jurisdiction to participate in the synchronized clean-up drive to be held on June 24 in destroying the nesting places of dengue-carrying mosquitoes (aedes egypti mosquito).
