Drink bottled water, Taal, Batangas mayor tells residents

The mayor of Taal, Batangas has urged residents to drink bottled water for the meantime as the local government unit (LGU) is looking for an alternative source of potable water after their water supply was contaminated by arsenic.

Taal Mayor Pong Mercado declared that 10 barangays in the municipality were affected by arsenic.

Mercado added that they are considering reverse osmosis and water trucks as alternative ways to supply safe water for thousands of residents in the 10 barangays.

He advised affected residents to drink bottled water until the municipal government has found a better solution. "Gumamit muna ng bottled water habang wala pang nahahanap na reverse osmosis nang sa gayon ay magkaroon sila ng inuming tubig."
