Darryl Yap names cast of 'Maid in Malacañang'

Father and son Cesar Montano and Diego Loyzaga are set to portray Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Bongbong Marcos, respectively, in Darryl Yap's upcoming film "Maid in Malacañang."

The director confirmed this himself posting photos taken during what he described as a "film pitch" where the two actors could be seen in the background.

"Sa totoong buhay. #MAIDinMALACAÑANG #MiM," Darryl's caption read.

Also present in the said meeting is Viva executive Vicente del Rosario Jr.

A few days ago, Darryl revealed that actress-beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez will play the role of Imelda Marcos in the film.

"Katotohanan. Kabutihan. Kagandahan #MAIDinMALACAÑANG," he wrote then.

In a separate post, he explained why Ruffa was chosen.

"BAKIT SI RUFFA. aside from personal choice po ni FL Imelda si Ruffa Gutierrez; Habang sinusulat ko ang #MAIDinMALACAÑANG— wala na kong ibang maisip na swak sa gusto kong ipakita…," he shared. "While marami ang nagsasabing si Alice Dixon, Dawn Zulueta, Gretchen Baretto o Lucy Torres (na talagang mahuhusay rin at magaganda) meron si Ruffa na palagay ko mas makakatulong sa manonood na maunawan si Imelda Marcos."

Darryl added: "itong #MiM kasi, ito yung kwento na hindi pa natin naririnig o nakikita— hindi ko kailangang kumanta o magdrama o maging asawa ng pulitiko ang Imelda Marcos sa aking Pelikula…kailangan ko siyang maging natural, makatotohanan at malapit sa realidad."

He believes Ruffa will be able to give justice to the role.  

"Malakas ang kutob kong kayang-kaya ni Ruffa gampanan ang mga huling sandali ng pamosong first lady sa loob ng Malacańang," was how he put it, noting: "parehas kasi sila… Misinterpreted Beauty."

"Aminin man natin o hindi, minsan dahil maganda ang tao— mabilis din nating husgahan… madali nating kinukwenta at tinatawaran ang pagkatao," he related. "Totoong ang mundo ay galit sa pangit, pero sa mga magaganda ito pinakamalupit."

"Di ako masyado sure kung makakarelate kayo? Mahirap maging Maganda. iniisip ng tao- puro ka arte, mababaw ka at yan lang ang puhunan mo sa lahat ng nais mong makamit. natatabunan ng ganda ang halaga... na minsan, ang isang maganda ay may kwentong mas maganda pa sa kung ano siya sa harap ng madla…isang anak, ina, asawa at isang tao."

Last month, Darryl talked about presenting his project concept to Viva, teasing it's about: "The Last 72 Hours of the Marcoses inside the Palace through the eyes of one reliable source."

He also aired hopes that Daryl Ong will agree to sing the official soundtrack.
