Daily minimum wage in Eastern Visayas up by P50

TACLOBAN CITY – Workers in Eastern Visayas (Region 8) will have a P50 increase in their daily minimum wage.

From P325, their minimum wage will be P375 daily under Wage Order No. RB VIII-22.

The pay hike for non-agriculture workers approved last June 6 will be implemented in two tranches.

The wage rates prescribed in the order apply to all minimum wage earners in the private sector regardless of their position, designation, or status of employment, and irrespective of the method by which their wages are paid.

In the first tranche, P25 will be implemented 15 days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation. The second tranche of P25 will be paid starting Jan. 2, 2023.

Under Wage Order No. RBVIII-DW-03, domestic workers in Eastern Visayas will also have an increase of P500. They will now receive P5,000 from P4,500 monthly in chartered cities and first class municipalities and P4,500 from P4,000 for those working in other municipalities.

The last wage increase in Region 8 – P10 – was implemented by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) on Feb. 18, 2020. It became effective after the first tranche of the increase was approved on July 22, 2019 and took effect on Aug. 18, 2019.
