The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) brought together talented men and women in uniform to serenade the public through its free concert dubbed as “Musikalayaan 2022” on Friday, June 10, at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium in Manila.

Maj. Cenon Pancito III, commander of the AFP Media and Civil Affairs Group (MCAG), said the activity was held as part of the celebration of the 124th Independence Day on Sunday, June 12.
The theme of the activity was “Pag-suong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas.”
"As we adapt to new normal, this concert will serve as an avenue for defense agencies to enjoin the public to be proud of its nation blessed with history of valor and gallantry," Pancito said.
Participating bands from the Headquarters and Headquarters Service Group (HHSG) Band of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), 2nd Infantry Division (2ID) Jungle Fighter Band, Philippine Navy (PN) Seabees Band, Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) Combo, Philippine National Police (PNP) Band, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Band, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Band, and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Band expressed their patriotism, love for country, and jubilation in the commemoration of the Independence Day through songs and musical performances.
Military and civic static display from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, PNP, Coast Guard, BJMP, and BFP were offered to the public which included tanks, mortars and machine guns where visitors were allowed to view them up close.
"The participation of the troops, other uniformed agencies, artists, musicians and bands during the celebration is a simple way of remembering the hard-fought achievement of independence for beloved country,” Pancito said.
“This also serves as a reminder of the undying perseverance to protect our people amidst crisis especially this COVID-19 pandemic, uphold sovereignty, and achieve a just and lasting peace in the country," he added.
