ILOILO CITY – Eight cases of the Covid-19 Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1 have been recorded in Region 6 or the Western Visayas region.
The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed five additional cases of the Omicron subvariant in the region Tuesday, May 31.
Three of the five new cases are returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the United States while the remaining two are local cases.
Based on initial information, the DOH considered them as having recovered already as they exhibited no symptoms when they were infected.
The DOH has not yet disclosed the specific areas where the cases are in the region.
All five were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The first three cases of the Omicron subvariant in Western Visayas were recorded last month – two from Iloilo, from Pavia and Zarraga, while the third was a returning OFW in Iloilo City. All of them have already recovered.
