Unidentified man who may be behind twin blasts in Isabela City caught on CCTV


ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Isabela City police were able to find closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showing a person of interest who may have been behind the explosions at the parking lot of a fastfood chain and a bus terminal on Monday, May 30, in Isabela City, Basilan.

The unidentified male person wearing a yellow t-shirt and a cap was seen leaving a plastic bag at the parking area of the fast-food chain, and a few minutes later, explosion occured.

Meanwhile, a guard of the D’Biel motorpool said he noticed an unclaimed baggage in one of their buses that travelled from Lamitan City.

Based on initial investigation, an identified man gave a package to the bus conductor in Lamitan for delivery to Isabela City.

The suspect reportedly instructed the conductor to place the box at the garage area of the D'Biel terminal for pick up.

After placing the box at the garage upon arrival, the duty guard reportedly became curious, and began to shake the box and decided to throw it near a parked truck where it exploded, according to a report from the Western Mindanao Command.

One person was injured in the explosion and was brought to the Basilan General Hospital for treatment.
