RSG Philippines head coach Brian “Panda” Lim won’t be joining his team in Kuala Lumpur but the MPL Philippines Season 9 champion squad remains confident that it can get the job done when it takes on the best teams in the Southeast Asian region.

RSG announced on its Facebook page that assistant coach Karl “Giee” Barrientos will be taking over for the squad although Panda will still be available during huddles through online video.

Asked about Panda’s absence, Giee kept mum about the details but revealed that it has something to do with the team’s preparation for the Season 10 which serves as a qualifier for the M4 World Championships.

“Una po sa lahat, we have a secret plan for this coming MPL Season 10. I can’t share much, that’s it,” said coach Giee during the MSC send-off press conference on Monday, May 30.

Coach Giee, though, assured that everyone in the team, including him, is up to the task of winning the MSC crown which was won by fellow Filipino team Execration last year. The core players of that squad however are back to defend their crown now under the banner of Omega Esports.

“Sa totoo lang ano eh, confident talaga ako. I've been with them since season 8 and we grow together. I'm close talaga kay coach Panda we worked together parang nakaka-confident na sila ang players ko 100% talaga! Kayang-kaya, sa tingin ko,” said coach Giee.

Season 9 regular season MVP Dylan “Light” Catipon echoed the same sentiments and expressed his confidence to Panda’s deputy.

“Goods naman si coach Giee. Maganda rin sa akin yung training ko para sa Season 10 na ma-experience yung ganito kaya ayun goods siya na maging head coach para sa akin,” said Light.
