Police start probe into email threats sent to employees in Dagupan university
DAGUPAN CITY – Police are conducting an in-depth investigation in a university here following threats sent through email to the school’s information technology head and 15 other employees on May 31.
The police refused to divulge the content of the email messages which they said are very alarming and causing fear and anxiety among students and employees.
Report from the police said that about 9:24 a.m. and 10:45 p.m. of May 31, a certain Alfredo, Security officer of the university, reported an alleged threat message received by the employees of said university.
The threat sent through email came from a certain ‘James’ who used a Gmail account.
The message, sent not just to a head of one department but also to 15 other employees of the University, was threatening and the sender claimed he or she is a student.
Personnel from Dagupan City Police Station proceeded to said place to investigate and secure the area.
Personnel from EOD/K9 Dagupan CECU (City Explosive and Canine Unit) were also brought to the university to determine if there is anything unusual hidden, but no contraband was recovered, police said.
“Hindi pa rin dapat balewalain ang mga ganitong pananakot lalo na may mga ilang insidente na nangyayari sa loob ng eskuwelahan,” police told Manila Bulletin.
