University of the Philippines (UP) Political Science professor Ranjit Rye said the unofficial count of votes mirrored the results of pre-election surveys.

“So far sa tingin ko, based on the partial and unofficial results na nakikita natin, tama yung mga surveys na lumabas (So far, I think, based on the partial and unofficial results that we see, the surveys that came out are correct),” Rye said in an interview with GMA on Monday evening, May 9.

“They turned up reliable again in our current elections, as surveys have been reliable in the past. Mukhang tama yung estimates ng survey companies including OCTA Research (The estimates of survey companies including OCTA Research seem to be correct),” Rye, who is also the president of OCTA, said.
