CAVITE – Governor Jonvic Remulla called on his constituents from opposing political sides to bury the hatchet now that the elections are over.
During a Facebook live session on Monday evening, May 9, Remulla said that the majority of Caviteños has spoken and chosen Bongbong Marcos to be the next president of the republic.
"Ang akalain kong 800,000 na kanyang magiging boto ay lumampas pa. Ababot nang halos 1.1 million sa dulo nang araw na ito (What I thought to be 800,000 votes for him exceeded. He will get almost 1.1 million votes by the end of this day," Remulla said.
"Marami pong nagalit sa aking pagsuporta sa ating magiging Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos at marami ring natuwa. Pero ganyan talaga ang demokrasya (Many got mad because of my support for our future President Ferdinand Marcos and many were also pleased. But that is democracy)."
The governor said he chose to be quiet on social media over the past 45 days because he did not want to engage in intense arguments.
"I think it's time for the country to heal itself. I think for those who voted for any other candidate, you have to wish that Bongbong Marcos does well," the governor said.
"Bongbong Marcos doing well means the country doing well. The country doing well means more people will be lifted out of poverty, more developments will happen, and the country will be in a better place."
Remulla, meanwhile, thanked his constituents for a fresh mandate. Based on partial, unofficial results aggregated from Commission on Elections (Comelec) data as of May 9, 10:17 p.m., the reelectionist governor got over 1.3 million votes.
Remulla also congratulated the other winning local candidates in Cavite based on the unofficial tally.
