PH handball team repeats over Thais, assured of silver medal

The Philippine handball team assured itself of at least a silver medal after surviving Thailand, 26-21, 22-27, 7-6 victory in the preliminary round of men's beach handball at the Tuan Chai Island in Quang Ninh, Vietnam.

Head coach Jana Franquelli posted the result in social media and dedicated the victory for the country despite being unable to cast their respective votes in the ongoing national elections.

"Sigurado na po tayo sa Silver Medal. Para sa bansa natin ang panalong ito. Maraming salamat sa inyong suporta! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!" wrote Franquelli

Earlier in the opener, the Filipinos edged the Thais in a close 18-16, 18-16 win.

In other results, Vietnam scored a 2-0 sweep over Singapore.
