Mayor Vico waits in line to cast vote at basketball court

Incumbent Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto cast his vote for the 2022 national and local elections in the polling precinct at the basketball court in Valle Verde 5, Pasig City on Monday, May 9.

The mayor arrived at around 3 p.m. and waited in line for his turn to vote.

By 3:10 p.m. he was able to accomplish his ballot, which the vote-counting machine successfully accepted.

In a press interview afterwards, Sotto urged people to not be discouraged to vote by the irregularities they may encounter during the voting process.

"After all, we only do this once every three years. Kung 'di man perpekto 'yung proseso ng Comelec, kung may mga glitches, habaan na lang po natin ang ating pasensya (After all, we only do this once every three years. Even if the process of the Comelec is not perfect, if there are glitches, let's have more patience and understanding)," Sotto said.

Sotto also said he and his team are monitoring the condition of the various polling precincts in the city, including problems such as voting delays caused by malfunctioning vote-counting machines (VCMs).

He has also been made aware of the issues with inaccessibility that persons with disabilities (PWDs) have reportedly experienced, particularly those whose precincts are at the upper floors of the buildings.

He hoped these will be resolved in next elections in 2025.

In terms of whether he is confident or not that he will win the election, Sotto said he does not have expectations but trusts the will of the people.

"We did everything that we can, we did our best, especially when it comes to governance. Of course also in the campaign," he added.
