Marcos camp confident Comelec can counter attempts at poll fraud

The camp of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos is counting on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to address issues of alleged poll fraud on election day.

This can be gleaned from the statement of Marcos spokesperson, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, on Monday afternoon, May 9, after the camp received reports of alleged voting irregularities in traditional strongholds of the UniTeam bet in Northern Luzon.

“We are taking note of these complaints but we are confident that the Comelec is ready for any eventualities especially against attempts by some groups to subvert the genuine outcome of this all-important and history-making political exercise,” Rodriguez said.

Various complaints of irregularities mostly centered on defective and non-working vote counting machines (VCMs) in Northern Luzon reached the Marcos a few hours after the opening of polling precincts Monday.

Some of the complainants came from the towns of Narvacan, Sta. Cruz and Burgos in Ilocos Sur as well as in Tabuk City, Kalinga.

"They all claimed that they voted for Marcos but when they checked the results, their votes were credited instead to Leni Robredo," read the statement from the Marcos camp.

The same camp advised their supporters to be extra-vigilant and report to the proper authorities anything that would negatively affect the results of the elections.
