Ka Leody calls for probe on poll 'anomalies' following VCM failures, violence
Following numerous reports of anomalies and equipment malfunctions on election day, presidential candidate Leodegario “Ka Leody” De Guzman has called on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to investigate these incidents.
“Nakatanggap na tayo ng mga ulat ng posibleng anomalya sa halalan...Nananawagan tayo sa Comelec na imbestigahan ang mga naiulat na insidente (We have received multiple reports of possible election anomalies... We call on the Comelec to investigate the reported incidents),” De Guzman said in a statement on Monday, May 9.
De Guzman listed the following, which he described as anomalies:
“Vote buying na may pinadadaan muna ang mga botante sa tila buying station bago tumungo sa presinto sa Las Piñas (Vote buying in which voters first passed through a buying station before heading to a precinct in Las Piñas);"
“Harassment sa aming mga poll watcher sa Carmona, Cavite (Harassment of poll watchers in Carmona, Cavite);”
“Mga sample ballot na may stub sa (Sample ballots with stubs in) Bataan;”
“Mga guro na mismong nagse-shade sa mga balota sa (Teachers shading ballots in) Mindanao;”
“Ang pagwasak sa mga balota at makina sa (The destruction of ballots and vote counting machines in) Bindakan, Lanao del Sur;" and
“Ang pagpalya ng halos dalawang libong vote counting machines (The failure of nearly two thousand VCMs)."
He further questioned the malfunctioning VCMs of which 2,000 machines were reported to have failed.

“Ilinaw ni Commissioner Casquejo ang kanyang mga naunang pahayag na ‘good as new’ na ang naturang mga makina. Pinaglaanan ng P600 milyon para sa repair and refurbishment (Casquejo should explain his previous statements that the VCMs were ‘good as new'. Some P600 million has been allocated for their repair and refurbishment),” he said.

“Sa maksimum, halos dalawang milyong boto ang maaring naapektuhan sa pumalyang halos 2,000 palpak na makina. Kung sa scanning machine ay mayroon nang posibleng anomalya, paano pa sa transmission na less transparent kumpara dito (At maximum, almost two million votes will be affected by the almost 2,000 faulty machines. If the scanning machines have possible anomalies, what more the transmission which is less transparent compared to this),” he said.
De Guzman voted on Monday morning in Cainta Elementary School in Cainta, Rizal.
