First-time voters, seniors arrive early in Imus, Cavite polling precinct

IMUS CITY, Cavite - Voters flocked early in Bayan Luma I Elementary School on Monday, May 9.

First time voters Caitlynn Juliano and Angliez Gutt arrived at 7 a.m., excited to practice their constitutional right.

"I'm anxious po since last night kasi sa possible dayaan na mangyari (because of possible election fraud), pero hoping po ako sa clean elections," 18-year-old Juliano told the Manila Bulletin.

Juliano said her parents advised her to come to the polling precinct early because lines will be long.

"I want to get it over and done with kasi I've been so anxious for so long so I figured it would be better to be here early and then just watch the count," 19-year-old Gutt added.

"I'm also half-expecting that I'll screw up sa ballot, I hope I don't, fingers crossed," she added, laughing.

To prepare for their first-time voting, they researched and exchanged links with their friends and made a list of candidates they're voting for.

Just as early as the first-time voters was 72-year-old Teresita Maningat.

A retired teacher, Maningat is pleased that many young Filipinos are becoming socially-aware.

"Good kasi ibig sabihin concerned sila sa future nila (That's good because it means they're concerned about their future)," Maningat commented.

"At sana, ang panalangin ko, lumabas ang katotohanan kung sino ang kandidatong pinili ng Panginoon para sa bayan natin (I hope and pray for an honest election and the candidates whom God has chosen for our country will win)."
