ILOILO CITY – One of the five regions where there is a large concentration of voters is Western Visayas with its more than five million registered voters.

Based on the data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec-6), at least 5,026,482 registered voters are expected to flock to the 3,569 voting centers spread across six provinces and two highly urbanized cities.
The other four regions with big concentration of voters are Calabarzon (9,193,096 voters), Central Luzon (7,289,791 voters), Central Visayas (5,249,066 voters), and Bicol region (3,910,261 voters).
However, Comelec-6 Regional Director Wilfred Jay Balisado has repeatedly clarified that a 100% turnout may not be realized.
Voter turnout in the previous 2016 elections was 75.90%.
During the 2019 midterm elections, there were 4.8 million voters in the region. The number has grown to what it is now after an increase of 217,643 registered voters.
The province of Negros Occidental has the most number of registered voters in Western Visayas with 1.94 million, while the Iloilo province ranks second in the region with 1.62 million voters, with Capiz province coming in third with 529,079 voters.
There are also 409,938 voters in Aklan province; 387,998 voters in Antique province; and 124,076 voters in Guimaras province.
The regional capital of Iloilo City has 330,470 voters while Bacolod City in Negros Island has 327,403 voters.
With the Covid-19 pandemic still lingering, Comelec has assured that safety protocols will still be enforced in voting precincts. But there’s no need to bring vaccination cards and no need to wear face shields.
