Muntinlupa candidates wrap up campaign

Candidates for local positions in Muntinlupa held their last day of campaigning on May 7 with rallies, "miting de avance" and caucuses.

The One Muntinlupa team led by congressional bet Jaime Fresnedi, mayoral candidate Ruffy Biazon, reelectionist Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac and their candidates for councilor held their "miting de avance" at the South Station Bus Terminal Grounds in Alabang.

Before this, they held their “Martsa ng Tagumpay” in which the teams in Districts 1 and 2 marched from Barangays Sucat and Tunasan and met in Alabang before going to the “miting de avance” venue.

Meanwhile, the Team Red Mariñas led by mayoral bet Red Mariñas and vice mayoral bet Oyo Boy Dioko held their “miting de avance” on May 6 in Barangay Putatan.

There are four candidates for mayor in Muntinlupa in the May 9 elections. They are Biazon, Mariñas, Nelson Benjamin and Oscar Marmeto.

Fresnedi, the incumbent mayor, is running for congressman against Silverio Garing. Simundac will try to win another term as vice mayor against Dioko.

There are 311,750 registered voters in Muntinlupa, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

In Muntinlupa, there are 2,051 polling precincts grouped into 432 clustered precincts in nine barangays.
