Fil-American diver Ariana Drake fell short of giving the country its first medal at the 31st Southeast Asian Games Sunday after finishing fourth in the women’s 1-meter springboard at the My Dinh Water Sports Palace in Vietnam.
Drake, 17, tallied 207.15 points to finish behind eventual champion Nur Dhabitah Bte Sabri of Malaysia, who posted 290.45 points for the gold medal.
Malaysia actually made a 1-2 finish with Nur’s teammate Kimblery Bong Qian Pin clinching the silver with 230.00 points.
Vietnam’s Ngo Phuong Mai bagged the bronze with 224.00 points.
Drake, a California native, resumes her medal hunt in the women’s 3M springboard on Tuesday.
