Duterte says he won't allow chaos to ensue after elections

President Duterte gave a stern warning that he would jail those who would cause trouble following alleged reports that chaos would ensue if the leading presidential candidate won the elections on May 9.

In an interview with SMNI this week, the President, at first, shrugged off the reports, saying people should not even bother with them.

"Maniwala ka diyan (Don't believe that)," he said with a chuckle.

Despite this, he assured Filipinos that he would not let chaos ensue following the elections.

"During the elections and before the new president takes over, I would still be president. If you do that, I will drag you --- I’ll put you in ," he said.

"Totoo ‘yan. Ipapasok talaga kita diyan sa kulungan na pinakamabaho (Believe me. I will lock you up inside the most stinky jail cell)," he added.

"Ang kulungan dito natin sa mga istasyon ng pulis, walang CR ‘yan. Walang --- walang tubig... Gusto ninyong matikman ‘yan? Eh, sige. Maniwala kayo diyan (The cells in police stations don't have comfort rooms. No running water. You want to have a taste of that? Then believe them)," he continued.

Duterte said the government forces would ensure peace and order in the coming days.

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, two bodies are tasked to oversee the election, at least on the level of law and order... Hindi papayag ‘yan (They will not let that happen)," he said.

"You create trouble? Tapos ako ang presidente? Patay ka. Sigura --- ah sigurado (While I'm the president. You're dead, that's certain)," he added.
