DepEd on Pacquiao's corruption claims: To allege wrongdoing without facts is tantamount to false accusation
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Sunday, May 8, stood their ground and reiterated that it is morally good to expose and question a wrongdoing, but to allege it without facts is equivalent to a false accusation.

The statement came after presidential aspirant Senator Manny Pacquiao, in an interview in the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) - Commission on Elections (Comelec) PiliPinas forum aired on May 6, alluded to an unnamed DepEd official involved in corruption.
DepEd underscored that when asked to identify the said official, Pacquiao demurred.
“As a public servant, the good senator has every right, legally and morally to assail and put to question whatever wrongdoing, any person or instrumentality of the government for that matter in his quest to eradicate graft and corruption in the bureaucracy,” said DepEd in a press statement.
However, DepEd reiterated that it is best not to “identify and not rely on generalities” that may put the entire institution down, adding that it may affect the public impressions of the integrity of the Department, especially in the upcoming polls.
“While there might still be bad eggs within the organization, leadership has seen fit to charge these known implicated and remove those found guilty. It is not, therefore, the time to condemn the whole institution. To allege wrongdoing, unsupported by specific facts or without naming names, is tantamount to false accusation,” DepEd furthered.
