UPV gets approval from CHED for face-to-face classes

Limited face-to-face classes at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) are set to start after receiving a Certificate of Authority from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The Certificate of Authority was given after the university's compliance with the requirements of CHED and the Department of Health (DOH) under joint Memorandum Circular No. 2021-001, effective April 28, 2022, until April 27, 2023.

UPV has been preparing since early last year for the return of face-to-face classes by forming a committee in charge of the reopening of the campus.

Classes are expected to start on Sept. 5, 2022, and end on June 8, 2023.

The authorization to start classes was given for BA in Communication and Media Studies, Broadcast Communication, Community Development, History, Literature, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Communication Arts, BS in Applied Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Public Health, Statistics, Fisheries, Accountancy, Business Administration (Marketing), Management, Chemical Engineering, and Food Technology.

It also covers the postgraduate degrees such as Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning, Master of Chemistry, Master of Education major in Biology, English as a Second Language, Filipino, Mathematics, Physics, Reading, and Social Studies, Master of Science (Biology), Master of Management major in Business Management, Public Management, Master of Aquaculture, Master of Marine Affairs, Master of Science in Fisheries major in Aquaculture, Fish Processing Technology, Fisheries Biology, and Master of Science in Ocean Sciences. Other post-graduate courses include the Professional Master Program in Tropical Marine Ecosystems Management and Doctor of Philosophy in Fisheries (Aquaculture). (Luisa Cabato)
