'I cannot close my eyes anymore': Pacquiao says bid for presidency is a fight for the poor
Aspiring president Senator Manny Pacquiao is concluding his election bid by wooing the residents of vote-rich Cebu province and looking back to his hometown General Santos City, where his campaign promise focused on uplifting the lives of the poor as his commitment to God.

In the cities and municipalities of Cebu, Pacquiao on Friday spent his second to the last day to campaign. He held his miting de avance in Cebu City, where he remembered his past as a poor that prompted him to seek for the highest seat to help others.
"Don’t think that this fight is for myself. This is the fight of those who are suffering from difficulty," he said in the vernacular

Pacquiao was welcomed by a huge crowd that filled the stretch of 3rd Avenue.
He believed he got the support of about 30 million poor Filipinos, including those who already pre-registered for his free housing project if he gets elected.
In running for the presidency, Pacquiao said he got tired of politicians who kept on making promises but were failing to fulfill.
In his 10-year experience in serving the public, he said he saw how corrupt officials would take away money dedicated for the poor. If elected, he said he would amend the Anti-Dummy Law to toughen measures against corrupt officials trying to hide their stolen wealth.
"As someone who worships God, I cannot close my eyes anymore," Pacquiao, a devout Christian, said.
The presidential hopeful promised he would not choose who to help as long as they are in need.
Pacquiao’s second to the last miting de avance started around 5 p.m. and was graced by celebrity couple Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati.
Eddie Gutierrez also rallied for Pacquiao, just like when the latter held his "gathering of faithful believers" on April 23.
Pacquiao's wife, Jinkee, also rallied for him and vouched for sincerity to help the poor.

Pacquiao is set to hold his last grand rally, his miting de avance, in his hometown General Santos City in South Cotabato on Saturday, May 7.
