Hot, humid weather with passing rain showers, thunderstorms likely in most parts of PH

Most of the country will continue to experience hot and humid weather in the next 24 hours because of the prevalence of the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, May 7.

In its extended weather outlook for key areas from May 8 to 11, PAGASA said that maximum air temperatures may reach 35-36 degrees Celsius (℃) in Metro Manila, 35-36℃ in Tuguegarao City, 24℃ in Baguio City, 33℃ in Tagaytay City, 31-32℃ in Puerto Princesa City, 32-33℃ in Metro Cebu, 31-33℃ in Metro Davao, and 32-33℃ in Zamboanga City.

Although most of the country will have fair weather, PAGASA still advised the public to stay vigilant during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours, as these may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja said PAGASA is not expecting a tropical cyclone development within five days.

However, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will likely move close to the country and bring rains over Eastern Visayas and some parts of Mindanao in the next few days.
