Comelec liquor ban in effect from May 8 to 9

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) liquor ban will be in effect on Sunday, May 8 until the election day on Monday, May 9.

This is in accordance with Resolution No. 10746 of the poll body.

According to the resolution, promulgated on Dec. 16, 2021, the poll body said it shall be unlawful for "any person, including owners and managers of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other establishments of the same nature to sell, furnish, offer, buy, serve, or take intoxicating liquor anywhere in the Philippines."

Under it, it is stated that the liquor ban shall be in force and effect on the day before the election (May 8, 2022) and on election day (May 9, 2022).

Hotels, resorts, restaurants and other establishments of the same nature duly-certified by the Department of Tourism as tourist-oriented may be exempted from the ban provided that the secure a written authority.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Regional Election Directors, Provincial Election Supervisors, Election Officers, and the Comelec Election Law Enforcement Tem, will be assigned by the Commission to implement the resolution.
