Jaclyn Jose defends Iglesia ni Cristo

Award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose was among those who shielded the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) from bashing after it endorsed UniTeam presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

She wrote on Instagram: "I just want defend our vote, watching a channel na parang d na maganda sinasabi sa INC. Na para bang nasa 10 commandments na at foul na talaga."

"Pasensiya na po..nasasaktan lang..ganun po talaga kami..sobra na po..sana wal(a) naman sakitan ng Religion..wala ako sa posisyon mag salita may mga leader po kami na makakapag paliwanag..ganun po talaga kami mga miembro nag kakaisa..wala na po kayo magagawa.ang respeto namin ay nasa aming pagkakaisa bilang Iglesia..sorry po..may malalim po kami pag uunawa ukol sa mga bagay na ito..salamat po."

INC is known for “bloc voting” wherein the church expects its members to vote for candidates it endorses.

Aside from the Marcos-Duterte duo, the INC has also endorsed the following senatorial bets for the May 9 polls: Guillermo Eleazar, Robin Padilla, Jinggoy Estrada, Joseph Victor Ejercito, Miguel Zubiri, Loren Legarda, Francis Escudero, Jejomar Binay, Alan Peter Cayetano, Sherwin Gatchalian, Mark Villar, and Joel Villanueva.

The endorsement was announced Tuesday night, May 3, on the NET 25 television network. (With report from Seth Cabanban)
