Police seize shabu at Comelec checkpoint in Pateros, buy-bust in Muntinlupa

Police arrested three persons in Pateros and Muntinlupa for illegal drugs worth P136,000 on Tuesday, May 3.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said that in Pateros, Ryan Jayungco was arrested at a Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoint located at the corner of Doña Esperanza and 3rd Street in Barangay Sta. Ana.

The checkpoint was manned by the Pateros police’s Sta. Ana sub-station and District Mobile Force Battalion.

According to the police, Jayungco was riding a motorcycle and was about to pass through the checkpoint when he was flagged down.

During verification, the police asked him to show documents. However, Jayungco, the police said, did not budge and instead tried to outrun the authorities. He was cornered and accosted.

The police saw a sachet of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) protruding from his right pocket that resulted in his immediate arrest. The police seized three plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 10 grams with a value of P68,000, one digital weighing scale, and the suspect’s motorcycle.

In Purok 1 in Barangay Sucat, Muntinlupa, the Muntinlupa police’s Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation against Mary Grace Merilo, 46, who was arrested along with her cohort, identified as Robert Guardailao, 43.

Recovered from them were four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 10 grams with a value P68,000 and P500 buy-bust money.

All the suspects are under the custody of the Pateros and Muntinlupa police while the illegal drugs will be turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.
