Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial candidate Salvador Panelo has guaranteed a "surprise" on May 9, election day.

In a Facebook post addressed to his supporters, Panelo said: “I trust that we will win because I feel loved and supported wherever I go."
Obviously trying to boost the morale of his supporters less than a week before the polls, Panelo added, "Many groups are voluntary campaigning for us, and thousands of absentee voters have said that they already voted for me.”
The former chief presidential legal counsel then concluded that "there are only two possible outcomes after May 9".
“Either I will be surprised that we will not win, or they will be surprised that we will win!” he said in jest.
Panelo reckoned that whatever happens, he already considers his campaign a success because it has raised awareness for the plight of children with disabilities (CWD) and their families. He used to be a father of a child with disabilities, which he refers to as "little angels".
First on the PDP-Laban stalwart's legislative agenda is institutionalizing support for CWDs, specifically free special education and therapy, and nursing homes for orphaned or abandoned CWDs.
He also considers his candidacy a success because: “We shone a light on the need for Constitutional reform to achieve meaningful and lasting change."
Regardless of the outcome of his Senate bid, Panelo is also pleased because he said that there is a great chance that President Duterte’s reforms will be continued because he believes Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte-Carpio will win as president and vice president, respectively.
