Pacquiao to corrupt officials: 'I'll put you to shame'

Aspiring president Senator Manny Pacquiao has vowed to shame corrupt government officials if he gets elected.

Pacquiao said he will do it publicly, particularly to those who will be found guilty of graft and corruption.

"Abangan niyo nalang kung anong paraan ko para ipapahiya sila. Sisiguraduhin ko ipapakulong ko ipapahiya natin sa taumbayan na ito yung nagpapahirap sa atin na dapat inaasahan na mag serbisyo sa atin (Just wait for what I'll do to put them in shame. I will make sure to put in shame and in jail those who we expect to serve us but are just punishing us)," he warned.

Pacquiao, who is known for his anti-corruption stance, said his campaign will be sweeping, relentless, and uncompromising.

"Panahon na siguro para magwalis na tayo. Magwalis tayo ng mga mga talagang basura diyan sa gobyerno (It's about time to clean the government. Let's sweep all the trash there)," he said as he attributed the country's poverty to the corrupt officials in the government.

According to the lawmaker, one of the executive actions he will make if he wins the presidency is the full review of all previous government contracts, regardless if they are big or small.

He added that he will be hands-on in reviewing all government transactions and in holding corrupt officials and their cohorts accountable.

He made the assurance as he said his candidacy is not prompted by any vested interest.

Pacquiao said he is not afraid to go after corrupt officials even if they are backed by big businesses and powerful accomplices because he has no connection with any of them. He said he sustained his campaign using his personal resources and has no political debts.

"Pagdating ng panahon wag na niyo akong pakiusapan pagdating sa war against corruption dahil hindi yan uubra sa akin, mapapahiya lang kayo (When the time comes, don't appeal to me when it comes to the war against corruption because it won't work. I'll put you to shame)," he added.
