Over 1,200 Filipino bishops, priests, and deacons who advocate for a good moral choice in this upcoming election expressed support for the tandem of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

During a press conference livestreamed on Facebook on Wednesday, May 4, the Clergy for the Moral Choice (CMC) formally endorsed Robredo and Pangilinan who are running for president and vice president, respectively.
CMC’s endorsement is in line with the call of the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to "guard and protect" the truth in the upcoming May 9 elections.
“Ang katotohanan ang siyang magpapalaya sa atin, na katotohanan at kalayaan ay magkaugnay (The truth will set us free, truth, and freedom are connected,” said CMC.
CMC’s decision to endorse the tandem is based on the character, capability, track record, and platform of the candidates they are supporting.
Members of CMC also acknowledged the “good and clean” record of Robredo not only during her term as Vice President but also in her other activities such as helping the poor.
“Sa kanilang buhay, pribado man o panlipunan, ay taglay nila ang mga katangian ng tunay na pastol na handang mag-alay ng kanilang buhay para sa kawan at hindi kailanman tatakbo, iiwas, o magtatago sa mga hamong kaakibat ng kanilang paglilingkod bayan. (In their lives, whether private or social, they possess the qualities of a true shepherd who is willing to lay down his or her life for the flock and will never run, avoid, or hide from the challenges associated with their public service),” CMC said.
In endorsing Robredo, CMC emphasized her office’s achievement of receiving the highest Commission on Audit (COA) recognition for the three consecutive years. (Luisa Cabato)
