Cop charged after pointing gun at girlfriend's brother-in-law in QC
A police officer was charged with criminal and administrative cases for pointing a gun at his girlfriend’s brother-in-law in Quezon City last April 29, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced on Wednesday, May 4.
The QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) said the suspect, Cpl. Wesley Hernandez, 31, assigned to QCPD Holy Spirit Station (PS 14), is now under restrictive custody.
According to the police report, Hernandez and his girlfriend, Jennelyn, 22, had a heated argument in front of the woman’s house in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City at around 8:45 p.m. on April 29.
Shaun Anthony Dolor, 40, Jennelyn’s brother-in-law, tried to pacify the two, but the suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor, pulled out his gun and pointed it at the complainant.
Dolor and Jennelyn went inside the house and immediately reported the incident to the police.
Police said Hernandez was charged with grave threat, alarm and scandal, and violation of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, and violation of the Commission on Election (Comelec) Resolution No.10728 (gun ban).
“Ipinag-utos na natin ang pagsibak sa pulis na sangkot sa insidente at ang agarang imbestigasyon hinggil dito. Kailanman ay hindi natin papalampasin ang sinumang tauhan ng QCPD na lumalabag sa batas at sisikapin nating pananagutan nila ang kanilang mga pagkakasala (We have ordered the dismissal of the policeman involved in the incident and the immediate investigation about this matter. We will never let any QCPD personnel who violate the law go unpunished, and we will ensure that they will be held accountable for the crimes they committed),” QCPD director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina said.
