Although she’s not there, it looks like Rihanna made it to Met Gala 2022 after all

The pop singer and fashion and beauty mogul was honored by the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York

For this year, the Met Gala went back to its traditional date by holding its annual fashion fest on the first Monday of May. On May 2, stars and fashion elites flocked to the Metropolitan Museum of Arts (the Met) in New York presenting their best and chicest interpretations of the 2022 gala’s theme “Gilded Glamour.” From corseted ensembles to men ditching the regular tuxedos---well, some of them---this year’s Met Gala showcased many iconic looks. Although, some fans can’t help to express how they miss some of the fashion benefit’s beloved attendees such as Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Harry Styles, and, most notably, the Queen of the Met Gala, Rihanna. But it looks like the latter did make it to the event after all.

While Rihanna wasn’t physically there at the Met Gala, her presence is still felt thanks to a special tribute. The Met and Vogue magazine collaborated in honoring the billionaire mogul by creating a Greek statute to her likeness. The two transformed Rihanna’s pregnant image from Vogue’s April cover into a giant sculpture through a video clip.

Rihanna and The Met and Vogue's marble goddess tribute

“The statue of ‘Eirene (The Personification of Peace)’ is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries,” the fashion magazine posted on Instagram. “But now, we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover.”

In response, the “Diamond” singer shared the clip with a caption that says, “Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!”
