University of Santo Tomas dethroned De La Salle and ended its two-year reign in the UAAP Season 84 poomsae competition at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Tuesday, May 31.

Vincent Gabriel Rodriquez, Miguel Alexandre Baladad, and Darious Venerable scored 8.520 and outplayed National University's James Matthew Lopez, Kier Macalino, Ricco Jame Teraytay (8.380) and De La Salle's Jessie Daniel Ignacio, Michael Porras, and John Aldrin Pacana (8.220).
The trio of Aidaine Laxa, Chelsea Xen Tacay, and Stella Nicole Yape executed a stellar performance to top the women's team play with 8.515.
"I am very proud of everybody," said UST head coach Rani Ortega. "What I told the team was they did not train for two weeks but they trained for two years. Kahit nung nag-start yung pandemic, we didn't stop training. Everybody did their part, having their online program from me and coach Junior (Reyes).
"One good thing about it is they worked on their individual weaknesses and kung saan pwede pa silang mag-improve. Kaya nung nagkita-kita kami, ang sabi lang namin, 'You are ready and in condition.'"

University of the Philippines followed suit with its lone podium finish with a silver courtesy of Joanna Pauline Jubelag, Adel Julianne Adriano, and Alyssa Louise Caabay (8.500) while De La Salle's Mikee Rose Regala, Zyka Angelica Santiago, and Daphne Ching scored 8.400 for the bronze.
Tiger Jin Laxa hit two birds with one stone as she bagged the Rookie-Most Valuable Player Award apart from a silver medal in the women's individual event. National University's Leila Soria topped the event with 8.470 points while De La Salle's Sofia Sarmiento settled for bronze with 8.385.
Patrick Perez of De La Salle won the individual men's event with 8.550 points as Ceanne Rosquillo clinched silver with 8.53 points for NU. Vincent Gabriel Rodriguez of UST tallied 8.370 points for the bronze.
In mixed pair event, the UST duo of Kobe Macario and Jade Ashley Carno ruled with 8.665 points while De La Salle's Perez and Regala notched silver with 8.615 points. NU completed the podium cast behind the efforts of Ceanne Rosquillo and Leila Soria with 8.555 points.
UST remained the winningest team in UAAP poomsae with six titles. NU placed second with one gold, two silvers, and one bronze while De La Salle finished third with one gold, one silver, and three bronzes.
UP ranked fourth while Ateneo and Far Eastern University placed settled for fifth and sixth, respectively.
