Rainy in parts of southern Luzon, Bicol, Western Visayas as LPA crosses PH

Light to heavy rains may prevail over several areas in southern Luzon, Bicol region, and Visayas as a low pressure area (LPA) is expected to continue to cross the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, May 31.
In its 11 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 50 kilometers (km) south-southeast of Romblon, Romblon, or at 75 km north-northwest of Roxas City, Capiz as of 10 a.m.
Although the weather disturbance remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said the LPA may bring “light to moderate with at times heavy rains” over Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and northern Palawan.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains will be experienced over the rest of Visayas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, the rest of Palawan, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, and Catanduanes.
“Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA advised the public.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
Moreover, the entire archipelago will have light to moderate winds, while its coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
