De La Salle held off the gritty University of the Philippines, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament Tuesday night, May 31.

The Lady Spikers erased a six-point deficit and unloaded a 9-1 run to avert a third set meltdown en route to a share of 7-3 record with the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses at second place.
Alleiah Malaluan spearheaded De La Salle with 14 points powered by 11 spikes and two service aces while Thea Gagate hit 10 kills and had two blocks for 12 markers. Jolina Dela Cruz also added nine points for the Lady Spikers.
After a 21-all deadlock in the third frame, Malaluan and Dela Cruz joined forces down the stretch for De La Salle but it was the attack errors from Aly Bertonlao and Lorie Bernardo that sealed the deal for the green and white.
"I think follow up siguro sa game last time against FEU (Far Eastern University) 'yong adjustments, hanggang ngayon lumalabas pa rin," said Lady Spikers assistant coach Benson Bocboc. "Medyo maganda naman 'yong effect, nakikita naman natin 'yong resulta but hopefully next time hindi ganoon."
Jewel Encarnacion paced the Lady Maroons, who slipped to a 4-6 record, with 16 points on top of 15 spikes while Bertolano chalked up nine attacks and one block for 10 markers.
Capping off the quadruple-header, National University kept the already ran University of the East winless as the top-seeded squad eked out a 25-14, 25-17, 25-15 win.

The Lady Bulldogs pulled away for good with an eight-point lead at 19-11 and never looked back at that point capped by a service ace from Princess Robles.
Alyssa Solomon and Ivy Lacsina led NU's balanced attack with 13 points apiece while Robles and Sheena Toring chipped in 10 points each as well.
Ja Lana and Dara Nieva paced UE with eight and seven markers, respectively, as no other Lady Warriors reached double digits.
