The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines has launched the 2022 Pinoy K-pop Star, a contest for aspiring Filipino singers and dancers.
Ten people, five from vocal and dance categories, will be selected in the preliminary round and will have the chance to perform and compete at SM Mall of Asia’s Music Hall on July 16 and be the Philippines’ representative to the 2022 Changwon K-Pop World Festival in South Korea.

According to KCC, the Pinoy K-pop Star is open to solo, duo or group of Filipino singers and dancers who preferably must be at least 18 years old at the time of the competition.
Contestants aged 17 years old and below are allowed to join by submitting a waiver stating that they are being allowed by their parents (or authorized guardian) to join.
Contestants also must be a resident and citizen of the Philippines, and must perform a K-Pop song released from 2020 to 2022.
The grand winner from the Vocal Category, and the grand winner and second placer of the Performance Category will be the Philippines’ official representatives to the 2022 Changwon K-Pop Festival.
Aside from getting the chance to represent the Philippines, the winner will also take home P50,000 as cash prize. The second and third placers will get P30,000 and P20,000, respectively.



Meanwhile, supporters of the aspiring stars as well as other guests may enjoy different prizes and booths from partner Philippine K-pop Convention (PKCI).
Before the contest, the PKCI will hold a program featuring different P-pop dance groups plus a special performance from an award-winning P-pop group.

The 2022 Pinoy K-pop Star is hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, KCC and KBS World in partnership with SM Mall of Asia and PKCI.
