Scattered rain showers, thunderstorms prevail over Visayas, Mindanao due to LPA

Visayas and Mindanao may experience cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms due to the prevalence of a low pressure area (LPA) inside the country’s area of responsibility, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weather forecast on Monday, May 30.
The LPA was estimated at 330 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 3 a.m.
PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains brought by the LPA.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
Moreover, the western section of Luzon and Visayas will have moderate winds, while its coastal waters will be moderate.
Light to moderate winds are expected to prevail over the rest of the country, while their coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
