Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary turned senatorial candidate Mark Villar has promised the completion of the Tayabas Bypass Road linking Lucena, Quezon Province to Batangas.

The project was originally projected to be completed by 2021. It was labeled as 78 percent complete last October 2020.

“I am in support of DPWH's current efforts to continue the completion of this project. It also aims to decongest traffic within the town proper of Tayabas. In our effort to improve the lives of the Filipino people, we need this kind of infrastructure, and should be given top priority”, Villar said in a statement on Tuesday, May 3.
Once completed, the bypass road will save around 20 to 30 minutes worth of travel time between Lucena and San Juan, Batangas.
“With this road, we hope to encourage more investments for the Tayabas town, most especially in under-developed areas that will be traversed by the bypass road," Villar added.
Villar's platform, if elected, is the continuation of the incumbent administration's flagship "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure modernization program.
