PCSO gives over P16M to CHED

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has recently given the Commission on Higher Education more than P16 million.

During a turnover ceremony at PCSO’s main office in Mandaluyong City, a PCSO representative handed a check worth P16,708,672.60 to CHED representative Richard Dean Gavilan on May 24.

PCSO General Manager Royina Marzan-Garma said the funds generated by the agency also go to many of its charity programs, benefitting many Filipinos in dire need of help.

“Our mandate is to generate funds for charity so we will focus on raising more funds. We in PCSO promise that we will remain steadfast and ensure that integrity and professionalism will be our core values in extending assistance to our fellow Filipinos,” she said in a statement.

Aside from CHED, PCSO also provides mandatory contributions to the Philippine Sports Commission Program, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Dangerous Drug Board (DDB), and Integrated Shelter and Urban Development Financing Program (National Shelter Program)

PCSO also gives Shared Government Information System on Migration (SGISM), Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Fund, Crop Insurance Program, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples for the Ancestral Domain Fund, and Museum Endowment Fund.

Under Section 10 of Republic Act No. 7722, PCSO is mandated to allocate one percent of the equivalent gross sales of its lotto operations to the CHED.
