NCIP partners with Buddhist foundation to bring strong socio-economic services

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Office on Socio-Economic Services and Special Concerns met with Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines' Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Vice-President Mr. Henry C. YuÃ±ez on Monday, May 23, to discuss their partnership in bringing socio-economic services to people.

The NCIP and Tzu Chi Philippines agreed on building a strong alliance and supporting their partnership arrangements that will bring projects that are beneficial to the economic and social progress of the indigenous people.

Tzu Chi Philippines is one of the 63 chapters of the Tzu Chi Foundation worldwide.

It was founded by a Buddhist nun, Dharma Master Cheng Yen in Taiwan in 1966.

This Buddhist foundation is known for its wide range of humanitarian missions such as charity, medical, livelihood, and education programs.

Meanwhile, NCIP is a government body that protects and promotes the well-being of the Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC)/Indigenous Peoples (IP) in the country. (Luisa Cabato)
