Undefeated NU takes eighth win with sweep of De La Salle

Fresh from a first-round sweep, National University remained undefeated in eight straight matches after routing De La Salle, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena Thursday night, May 26.

Team captain Princess Robles led all scorers with 17 points off 15 spikes and two service aces while Michaela Belen fired 14 markers with 10 coming from attacks and three from the service area.

Alyssa Solomon also added 11 points on top of two blocks as NU got a firm grip of solo lead with a perfect 8-0 record.

The Lady Bulldogs led by as many as eight points, 16-8, and took a comfortable reset with a technical timeout before the Lady Spikers attempted a late comeback in the third set.

The lead, however, was too much to overcome as the gap even ballooned up to eleven points, 23-12, after an Ivy Lacsina quick attack.

NU reached match points at 24-14 as De La Salle's Leila Cruz committed a costly service error.

The Lady Spikers then converted three straight points, 24-17, but Sheena Toring delivered the finishing touches for the Lady Bulldogs with a power tip.

Thea Gagate was the lone Lady Spiker to reach double-digits with 10 markers off seven spikes and three blocks while Alleiah Malaluan was limited to seven points.
