Pacio-Brooks strawweight title bout postponed

Joshua Pacio's title defense against top-ranked strawweight Jarred Brooks has been postponed.

ONE Championship, in a social media post Wednesday, May 25 revealed that the strawweight title bout initially slated on June 3 was reset to a later date "due to a scheduling conflict."

The main event of ONE: 158 is now headlined by a featherweight muay thai bout between Tawanchai PK. Saenchai and Niclas Larsen.

Pacio, riding on a four-match win streak, last saw action in September 2021 with a technical knockout win over Japanese rival Yosuke Saruta, settling unfinished business in their trilogy.

Brooks, for his part, earned the No. 1 strawweight position after ousting and submitting Bokang Masunyane last April.

Pacio holds a 19-3 record while Brooks also boasts 19 wins with two losses.

ONE Championship has yet to announce the next date for the title bout but Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao assured that Pacio is all set.

"At this moment, wala pang naibibigay na date but anytime na ONE will call for a resumption, Joshua is ready, we are ready," Sangiao told the Manila Bulletin.

Meanwhile, Jenelyn Olsim's return in the Circle remains as she faces Brazilian contender Julie Mezabarba.
