Metro Manila's Covid-19 reproduction number at 1.25---DOH

The current Covid-19 reproduction number (Rt) of Metro Manila is at 1.25, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday, May 26.

A reproduction number is the average number of people that can be infected by a Covid-19 positive individual. If the reproduction number is less than one, the virus transmission is slowing down.

"The Rt of NCR (National Capital Region) as of May 23 is at 1.25," the DOH said in a statement.

Despite this development, the DOH said that the increase in Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila is not yet affecting the capacities of hospitals.

"While we have seen an incremental increase in the Rt and observed a similar uptick in cases, as mentioned, these are slow, small, non-sustained, and have not yet translated to increase in admissions," it said.
