CEBU CITY – Two years after he was released from jail, a 32-year-old man found himself behind bars again for the same offense.
Melvin Salazar was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City past 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 25.
Operatives of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) seized more than a kilo of suspected shabu from the suspect.
The estimated value of the seized illegal drugs was P7 million, said Police Lt. Noah Añana, chief of the LLCPO DEU.
Police said that the suspect, a native of Cebu City but is residing in Lapu-Lapu City, was arrested in 2018 for drug charges. He was released in 2020 after availing of plea bargain.
Police said the suspect admitted his involvement in illegal drug activities. The suspect allegedly admitted that as a drug courier, he was paid P10,000 for every transaction.
Further investigation will be conducted to identify the suspect's cohorts, police said.
