Farmhouse drug den in Nueva Vizcaya raided; three suspects arrested

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya -- Personnel of Bayombong Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Nueva Vizcaya Police Office (PDEA NVPO) arrested three alleged drug personalities on Wednesday, May 25, during a raid of a suspected drug den in a farmhouse in Agustin residence Purok 5, Brgy. Busilac in this town.

According to a police report, a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer was able to buy dried marijuana leaves and stalks contained in a heat-sealed plastic sachet from the suspects during the buy-bust conducted by PDEA Region 2.

Major Nova Lyn Aggasid, Information officer of NVPO, said the suspects who were caretaker of a farmhouse were identified as Mateo Agustin, 42, driver and a resident of Purok 5, Brgy. Busilac, Bay; Cathy Agustin, 40, a resident of Brgy Busilac, Bay; and Kenneth Culanag, 22, a resident of Purok 3. Barangay San Nicolas, Bay, province of Nueva Vizcaya.

The authorities spent two weeks monitoring the suspects’ alleged illegal activities in the said farmhouse.

The police confiscated heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected; dried marijuana leaves, stalks and fruiting tops; genuine one thousand peso bill; rolled piece of paper containing suspected dried marijuana; assorted drug paraphernalia and black leather wallet containing assorted ID's and cash amounting to P2,600 with different denomination .

The arrested suspects and recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Bayombong Police for documentation.

Police said the suspects will be facing charges for violation of Sec.5, 6, 7, 11 and 12 of Article II of RA 9165.

Colonel Ranser A. Evasco, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippine National Police provincial director, lauded the efforts of the operating troops for the continuous implementation of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign and for a job well done.

He believes that the apprehension of the suspects, especially the arrest of the High-Value Target will decrease the supply of illegal drugs within the area of responsibility.
