DSWD's satellite warehouse in Ilocos Norte to be operational in 2023

As part of its efforts to strengthen the country’s disaster response operations, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista led the soft launching of its satellite warehouse for relief goods in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, which is expected to be operational in February 2023.

Managed by the DSWD-Field Office I, the P50-million satellite warehouse will serve as a storage facility for relief goods and other stockpiles to be used during disasters, calamities, and human-induced hazards in Ilocos Region and nearby areas, such as some municipalities in the Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley.

“This will surely increase the capacity and efficiency of the Field Office in the production and storage of the relief items,” said Bautista, as he led the soft inauguration to celebrate the near completion of the facility on May 17.

“Likewise, this would ensure that food and non-food items will be available and distributed immediately to the affected population,” he added.

He stressed that the DSWD is committed to enhance its service delivery through the construction of various facilities geared toward bringing social protection packages closer to communities.
